Disclaimer: This is just a filler entry to keep everyone's buzz going till the end of the attachment. Do not blame the author if your life is unchanged at the end of this post. If you do.. well.. You're an asshole.
I didn't want to do this but Elwin said that I should be blogging so here i am blogging away using Jinghan's laptop. Why? Why Jinghan's laptop one might wonder. Isn't the acer laptop loaded with 12Gb of south park and another 12GB of quality music a much better and stylish laptop to blog with? Is the aurthor then an idiot?
The reason is pretty simple. No matter how advance we are, no matter how fast a laptop is, how much cool shit is contained in it, it is suscepitble to primitive problems such as a hardware failure. And therefore, on the 5/6/2007, the aurthors link to the rest of the world via the WWW broke down, with a black screen citing a media test failure and the absence of an operating system the reason. Beep....
OIAP/IAP is coming to a close and we can all meet up and have a good time. And I can get my computer fixed real soon.. hopefully, not overlooking the trouble i have to go through. Still, with some retail therapy back in place, there's no reason to let it get anyone down.
Let's hope that this would not be the last post, though by the frequency of the entries.. I would say that it might well be the last. So.. friends, brothers, comrades all over the world, stay chinese and proud. And black metal. Otherwise F*CK and add the missing you (marilyn manson - I've got an F and C and I've got a K too), Haha.
PS darren: You heard the new marilyn manson yet? Is it any good?
Cheers,
Hanrong

As dead as my earphones.

24/05/07
Dearly Beloved,
We are gathered here to witness the passing of a good friend.
On this fateful morning of the twenty-fourth day of May, the year of two thousand and seven, my comrade, the creative in-ear earphones, while playing Psycroptic's Cruelty Incarnate, had been brutally tortured to death.
Let us not forget the glorious length of service this companion has clocked. And let us remember the good songs that i have listened to on it. And let us forgive it of the crappy, crappy songs it delivered to me.
We were all making our way to school. And when we were passing in between two parked pick-up trucks, my earphones caught the side of the truck and was ripped apart from solders connected to the jack. Its coppery entrails were hanging out of the black rubber tubing that withstood so many twisted and kinks.
Ah fuck.
Fuck fuck fuckitty fuck fuck fuck.
Time to get new earphones.
Dammit.

Wooh!
We're about 8hr away from the Lamb of God concert. And hopefully we'll get to be right in front again so I can enjoy the show without my specs again.
Having watch their dvd about 5x now.. I never thought I would be this close to catching Lamb of God life but just 12 hours before this I was telling myself I wouldn't go if somehow I managed to get my money back for the ticket. It's just shitty how fatigue can fuck you up.
But after a good night rest and some southern comfort in the dark "looks like it's gonna rain" saturday morning, I should have enough to last me through at least the after party. Then I'll leave Elwin to figure out how to get us both back home. HAHAHA
On the downside though, my sup caught me dozing off. Not once, but quite a few times. Hopefully we're still cool since I managed to produce conclusive gel results and I did not let my work get affected. See, it IS possible to have fun and catch lots of METAL and still kick ass at work.
Oh yea. And those who think that we're having a hell of a time.. We are! So feel jealous. Let your jealousy rip your guts and soul out for satan who will then convert it to nourishment for us. muhahaha.
Ah. I'm kidding. We have to submit our reports next week and we do experience problems in the lab. We just have to you know.. metal it out and give everyone else the impression that we're having a way better time than anyone else (phy and kailin I'm looking at you guys) just to prove that we're well.. way more cool than all of you.
And as Carpathian Forest said... FUCK YOU ALL!!!
We really do miss you guys. Serious. ((:

yawns.
its saturday morning.
vader. was. fucking. awesome.
no shit.
We arrived 2 hours prior to the start of the gig.
and we met this crazy aussie death-black-grindcore-crust girl who had pink hair. and she brought us to this really cool pancake place to have dinner. after which we headed back to the venue.
Club Phoenix is essentially like the Gashaus of Brisbane. just that they're slightly bigger. like more pool tables, 2 bars, and lots more space. the stage was slightly smaller. but there's like a cement barricade behind the monitor amps. and a single metal bar to hold on to. a really good idea for a stage.
the opening bands were pretty damn good.
there was Defamer, this local band which plays death metal more towards the brutal side. not bad at all. the seven string guitarist was pretty good.
and there was Empyrean, another local band, sounds like a mix between cradle of filth and amorphis, kinda. drummer was good, guitarists were good. vocalist sounded slightly like dani filth. got their 6 track cd. no idea if its an EP or LP. too long for EP, too little tracks for an LP. well they're not very original but i believe that they're pretty talented. darren, will pass you the songs when we're all back in Singaland.
vader.
sigh. never thought i'll get to catch a Polish band in my entire life. and well, there we were.
got photos with 3/4 of the band. didnt manage to get a photo with the bassist. we got a drumstick each from Daray, and Hans got a pick from Peter.
let the photos do the blogging.
Club Phoenix.

Hi all.
first things first. take a look at this.

O God, the aftermath
How's it going guys? I'll just do a brief entry here. Don't have any photos with me. Will get elwin to upload some later. Forgive my long absence. I'm the only guy with no internet access in UQ. Bummer.
We've been away for the weekend as everyone knows. And it was good. Drinking every night. JD, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Corona, Southern comfort.. Lots of new "friends". And because of them we had some good conversations, which made us quite messed up, turning whatever brain matter we have into coleslaw which we ate it in the morning for breakfast. Was pretty good.
And we took a few thrilling rides which made my legs went wobbly(have to admit). And phy, we wished you were here cause we're sure you'll be game for the rides and we'll have a really killer time together but oh well..
Then the beach which I really have much to bitch about for taking my sight away. I gave my specs to tame the raging sea but it didn't work. The beach continued tossing us around and yea. It was fun but my specs.. Damn. It was a good specs. At least now it'll see oceans it'll never see resting on my ears/nose. I'll have difficulty at concerts now since I don't think I'll risk my very fragile specs. Bummer.
That's all I have I guess. Plus we got some gifts settled already. So.. it was pretty good. Now the thing is to get geared in for work tomorrow and hopefully.. My SDS-PAGE would be killer. I mean I actually calculated the loading concentration this time round. haha.
And on the side note, new CDs to check out
Dark Tranquillity - Fiction
Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death(NSBM)
Ensiferum - Victory Songs
Marduk - Rom 5:12
That's about all I can think of. But please try marduk and let me know if it's good? Awesome reviews.
Take care all. Cheers and JDs.

alcoholiday.
hails.
easter holidays are coming up and being the hypocritical antichristians we are, we're glad to have this long weekend to kick the fuck back and down some booze.
the four of us have planned a trip to gold coast. and we've even booked a budget hostel for our 4 nights stay there. will possibly be visiting dreamworld and movieworld. and chilling at the beach.
on another note. we have gotten our sober fingers on a bottle of the green fairy. yes. ABSINTHE people. made from wormwood and containing thujone and 60% alcohol. banned in most countries around the world between 1925 and the 1990s. and is STILL banned in the US and A.
the shots taste medicinal and herby. and gives your throat a minty burn. been mixing it with lemonade and apple juice for 2 days in a row despite the next day being a working day. tastes pretty good actually.
i read up on wikipedia that the allerged psychoactive and hallucinogenic effects of thujone was nothing more than a medieval misconception. so absinthe is as safe as say, gin with a slightly higher alcohol content.
oh and btw. the booze IS really cheaper here. we're planning to buy a 24 pack of XXXX Gold (a local brew) for A$31. which would bring a bottle to about A$1+. cheap as piss.
well.
looking forward to a buzzy weekend/easter.
cheers and beers.
your slightly drunk friend,
Elwin

so if you guys want to send us letters, you're more than welcome!

Overcranked 07 - The Aftermath
Overcranked 07 was a blast.
Tickets were A$85 at the door, but hell. it was fucking worth it.
Hans and I stayed at the Red Octopus Stage throughout the entire festival cause it was the extreme metal stage. there was a punk/indie stage, emo/hard rock stage, emocore/metalcore stage and of course the extreme metal stage.
Here's the set list.
we took tonnes of photos. but almost none of ourselves.
this was definitely not a regular gig for hans and I.
Firstly it was a festival. Baybeats, in terms of the bands playing, is a feeble attempt compared to this. renowned death metal acts like Psycroptic and Dawn of Azazel played. and so did God Forbid (but that was the metalcore stage).
Secondly,NO BANDS SUCKED. serious. every single band was kickass. some had a better soundcheck than others but none of the bands gave crap music.
Thirdly, though there were almost no other asians except for us, the locals were fucking good to us. talked to us, asked us where we came from, what we like to listen to. nothing like the SG gigs where everyone basically ignores everyone else that they dont know.
Lastly, we got priceless photos with Rigel of DAWN OF AZAZEL. he was a damn nice guy. he was around few bands before his band was up, we flashed our horns. and he flashed his at us. came over to pose for a photo for us. after the entire fest, he came down, talked to the few fans that stayed behind. we told him we came from singapore and we asked if he had any stuff like stickers or posters he could give us and he went in the back to bring us 2 copies of his lastest album SEDITION, just for us. after which we all took a photo together.
Great success!
before that we already got a free cd from an aussie death metal band Minus Life. and the guy at the merch booth gave us the fest posters for free.
the only disappointing thing about the entire fest was that the biggest stage wasnt for extreme metal. it was for metalcore. says quite a lot about what aussie kids listen to more.
Happy times..
good surfing tip.

Ruins vocalist/guitarist Alex Pope.

Pathogen vocalist Mike Leanne.
